RE: OPIC - Haiti Democracy Project Delegation Meeting Today - Thank you!

Dear Lionel and distinguished members of the Haitian Delegation, 

Michael McNulty and I want to thank you for meeting today with us at our Overseas Private Investment Corporation (“OPIC”) offices.  And congratulations to Heineken on its $100 MM investment in Haiti including the sorghum farm and expansion of the beverage manufacturing facilities.  We were interested in the development of the Lafito Free Zone that Mr. Sassine discussed.  And the brief discussion of the importance of the democratic voting process and the free press were most helpful to us as well. 

We hope the information on OPIC that we provided to you was helpful and that you will keep OPIC in mind as you develop your investment projects in Haiti.  OPIC is very interested in assisting developmental projects in Haiti with an eligible US investor nexus.  We have significant unused additional capacity for “bankable” developmental projects.  As we discussed, on the Finance side, please feel free to contact Michael (cc’d here for your convenience).
