
Conferring with AID
Haiti Democracy Project met with assistant AID administrator Adolfo Franco on May 24 to discuss findings of project report. Delegation led by Amb. Timothy M. Carney, chairman of board (since resigned), and included a number of members of the Washington-area Haitian-American community:
- Harold Charles, engineer and impresario
- Gerald Gourdain, businessman
- Francois Jean, associate of Haiti Democracy Project, formerly worked for International Foundation for Elections Systems and National Democratic Institute in Haiti
- Monique Meleance, C.P.A.
Mr. Franco expressed his appreciation of the project’s report and encouraged it to work with the diaspora and with civic education in Haiti.
