According to KID this is unacceptable interference and indecency mixed with awkwardness. We do not understand how an international organization can be bargaining about its relations with a member country over judicial problems. Caricom did not even take the precaution of saying: if Yvon Neptune is not guilty he should be released.

I think this initiative is not correct. The Haitian government does not have to accept pressure from Caricom. I believe that this is a decision to be made by the Haitian Justice Department. Everybody knows that massacres, crime and genocide are condemned by international conventions. Therefore, we consider Caricom’s action an act of indecency because Caricom has broken its own principles on this matter.

This is interference, because Haiti would not have the right to ask any Caricom country to release somebody who has problems with the law in his country.
