U.S. authorities have so far arrested five former high-level Haitian officials on charges related to drug trafficking:


Fourel Celestin, a former Haitian senator from the southeastern coast, where much of the Colombian drugs enter the country by boat, taken into custody in Miami on Tuesday.


Jean Nesly Lucien, former police chief under former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide, arrested last week by the DEA at a Little Haiti home.


Evintz Brillant, former head of the Haitian National Police’s drug squad, arrested last week in Port-au-Prince.


Rudy Therassan, the commander of the national police’s investigative unit, arrested in Miami in May and identified as a government informant in court.


Oriel Jean, Aristide’s security chief, extradited from Canada to Miami in early March.
