U.S. authorities have so far arrested five former high-level Haitian officials on charges related to drug trafficking:
? Fourel Celestin, a former Haitian senator from the southeastern coast, where much of the Colombian drugs enter the country by boat, taken into custody in Miami on Tuesday.
? Jean Nesly Lucien, former police chief under former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide, arrested last week by the DEA at a Little Haiti home.
? Evintz Brillant, former head of the Haitian National Police’s drug squad, arrested last week in Port-au-Prince.
? Rudy Therassan, the commander of the national police’s investigative unit, arrested in Miami in May and identified as a government informant in court.
? Oriel Jean, Aristide’s security chief, extradited from Canada to Miami in early March.
