In a note to the press, Prime Minister Gerard Latortue made the following statement:
Following the recent conversation I had with Caricom [Caribbean Community] Secretary-General Edwin Carrington, we were able to clarify the misunderstanding that occurred recently in relations between Haiti and Caricom.
We are now waiting to be able to pursue fruitful relations with all of the Caricom countries. The secretary-general and my old friends in the region are aware of my commitment towards democracy, regional integration and inter-Caribbean cooperation.
