Rick Reinhard photo The undersigned business associations–the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Haiti (CCIH), Center for Free Enterprise and Democracy (CLED), Foundation for a New Haiti (FNH), and the French-Haitian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CFHCI)–protest vigorously against the intimidations, the threats and persecutions of all kinds made to their member Axan Abellard because of his public standpoint in Haiti and in Washington. The institution quoted above emphasize that any Haitian has the constitutional right to express his opinions freely and to criticize the way in which the country is governed. They ask the government and authorities in place to make all the provisions necessary to guarantee the security and the constitutional rights of the citizen and businessman Axan Abellard and his family, as requested for all citizens expressing their view on the situation of their country.
