PRESS RELEASE
184 institutions, organizations and coalitions
representing 12 sectors of haitian civil society
On Wednesday, January 15, the deadline accorded to the regime to provide the Haitian people with some sign of its good faith efforts to save our imperiled Nation.
The 184 institutions, organizations and coalitions representing 12 sectors of Haitian society who signed the communiqué of December 26 (Communiqué No. 1) take note of the government?s contempt of the population?s expectations in this regard, as expressed in the text of that communiqué.
In effect, not only have the demands themselves not been met, but no attempt at all was made to respond. Worse still, the situation has gotten alarmingly worse, and the country continues to plunge into the abyss.
In light of these facts, consultations among the sectors and with other organizations that have since joined the initial group have already begun, in order to develop a response.
A press conference will be held early in the week of January 20 to share with the nation and the world the conclusions that will be drawn and the strategy to be pursued in the face of these circumstances.
